Sergei Chepchugov is a goalkeeper who currently defends the colours of CSKA Moscow. He was born on July 15, 1985 in Krasnoyarsk, Soviet Union.
He launched his career at FC Metallurg Krasnoyarsk in 2003. In 2005 he was recognized as one of the best shot stoppers in the Russian Second Division. In 2006 he moved to FC Sibiryak Bratsk on loan. On returning to Metallurg he had to compete for a place in the starting lineup. During his 2003–2007 spell at the club Chepchugov featured in 97 matches. Sergei decided to change the club because of club’s financial difficulties and poor performance. In 2008 he joined FK Rīga, but soon moved to FC Sibir Novosibirsk for a season. Sergei established himself as a first-team regular, registering 46 appearances for the club. He was named the Russian First Division best goalkeeper in 2009.
In 2010 CSKA signed the goalkeeper to a long-term contract. Chepchugov is used mainly as a back-up capacity at CSKA. From 2010 to April 2012 he took part in 11 matches only.
