A Spanish footballer Sergi Gómez Solà plays as a defender for Barcelona B. He was born on 28 March 1992 in Arenys de Mar.
Sergi started his football career at the academy of Mataró. When he was 14, he was invited to a trial at Barcelona. The young defender managed to show a good performance and so he was drafted into the club’s youth department. Gómez’s junior career at Barcelona would span for almost five years, since he first joined the youth team in 2006.
In 2010, the defender was promoted to the reserve team of Barcelona. The same year, Sergi formed the part of the main squad that brought the victory in the 2010 Spanish Supercup. After that match, the footballer returned to the B team. He’s already made more than 45 appearances both as a substitute player and as a member of the starting line-up.
On international level, Gómez started playing for the Spain U-17 team in 2008. He scored one goal in 15 matches. The defender was the member of the squad that took the third place at the FIFA U-17 World Cup. In 2010, Sergi made 2 appearances for the U-18 team. In 2011, he also participated in the UEFA U-19 Championship, when his squad became the champion. In total, he appeared 13 times for the U-19 side.
