A Spanish footballer Sergi Roberto Carnicer plays as a midfielder for Barcelona. He was born on 7 February 1992 in Reus.
In 2005, Sergi was selected for the youth team of Gimnàstic de Tarragona. Very soon, the young midfielder was noticed by the Catalonian neighbors Barcelona. He passed all the preliminary tests successfully and entered the club’s academy. He started playing for the U-15 team and very soon proved to be a very talented player.
When Roberto was 17, he got the promotion to the reserve team of Barcelona. The 2009/2010 season was lined with 22 appearances made for the B squad. On 21 May 2011, Sergi debuted in La Liga. He made his first appearance for the club’s main team on 6 December 2011 in a match with FCBATE Borisov. He managed to score his first goal during that game.
From 2011 Sergi Roberto has been playing for the first Barcelona squad.
In 2008, Roberto earned his first call for the Spain U-17 team. In 2009, he won the U-17 World Cup. Sergi also represented the national youth squad at U-19, U-20 and U-21 level. In 2011, he was called up to play for the Catalonia national team.
