Seydou Doumbia is a forward of Ivorian decent, who currently represents CSKA Moscow. He was born on 31 December 1987 in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.
In his teenage years he played for Centre Formation d’Inter FC from 1999 to 2003. In 2003 he signed for AS Athlétic Adjamé. In 2005 he joined AS Denguélé on loan, managing 15 goals and becoming the Côte d’Ivoire Premier Division top scorer.
In 2006 Doumbia joined the J. League Division 1 side Kashiwa Reysol. During his 2006-2008 spell at the club Seydou managed only 3 goals. Having failed to make his mark at Kashiwa Reysol, he was loaned out to Tokushima Vortis. In 2008 Seydou was transferred to Young Boys for a fee of €130,000.
Playing for the Swiss Super League side Young Boys, he netted 20 goals in his debut season and 30 in the 2009/10 season, becoming Swiss Super League top scorer twice.
On 5 January 2010 Seydou Doumbia was transferred to CSKA Moscow. He scored his premier goal for the Army Men in the Europa League playoff match against Anorthosis Famagusta on 19 August 2010. During his 2010-2012 spell at the club he made 56 appearances and managed to net 34 goals.
On 24 May 2008 Seydou won his first cap for the Côte d’Ivoire national squad in the friendly against Japan. On 18 November 2009 he netted his debut goal for Côte d’Ivoire in the match against Germany. He also was called up for the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
