Shamil Lakhiyalov was born on 28 October, 1979 in Makhachkala.
Shamil’s football career started at local Dynamo Makhachkala youth academy. In 2002 the footballer moved to FC Saturn, where he made 5 appearances as a substitute. In 2003 Lakhiyalov joined Anzhi Makhachkala, which is the main rival of his former club Dynamo. On 17 October, 2005, after the match between the rivaling clubs, there was a fight between Shamil and Dynamo player Sergei Serdyukov, after which a criminal case was opened against Lakhiyalov.
In 2007 Shamil moved to FC Terek Grozny and stayed there for 3 years. After the expiration of the contract Lakhiyalov left the club and joined FC Krasnodar in the early 2011. However, a month later Shamil left the club and returned to Anzhi. On 1 March Shamil made his first appearance for Anzhi Makhachkala in a match against FC Zenit Saint Petersburg. In 2013 the player moved to Samara and joined Krylia Sovetov. However, in the summer 2013 the forward retired from professional football.
