Shaun Maloney is a midfielder of Wigan Athletic. He was born on 24 January 1983 in Miri, Malaysia.
In 2000 Shaun graduated from the academy of Celtic, where he managed to become one of the best trainees. Maloney penned a contract with the club and became a professional footballer. The footballer made 104 appearances and amassed 26 goals for Celtic during seven years.
In 2007 Shaun completed a move to Aston Villa. The midfielder featured in 30 games and fired five goals, which, however, did not help him to stay with the new club for the following season. In 2008 Maloney returned to his boyhood Celtic and kicked 13 goals in 55 matches for the team during three years.
In 2011, the footballer transferred to English side Wigan Athletic, where he continues to perform up till now. Shaun made 13 appearances for the club during the 2011/2012 season.
Maloney’s international début came in 2002, when he was invited to play for the Scotland national youth team. Later the midfielder was capped 20 times and contributed one goal for the full national squad. In 2007, Shaun was called up to England B, where he took part in one match and found the net one time.
