Siem de Jong is a Dutch attacking midfielder. He was born on 28 January 1989 in Aigle, Switzerland, but when he was 6 years old his family moved to Netherlands, where he started playing football in a small amateur club Doetinchem. At the age of 12 Jong was invited to join De Graafschap.
In 2005 the player was scouted by Ajax and after playing for several youth teams, finally made his debut for the senior squad on 26 September 2007. In the season 2008/2009 he became the only player in the side under the age of 20 that participated in more than 20 games in the season in the Dutch championship.
In the season 2009/2010 he became a regular in the senior squad, frequently performing as a striker and scoring a number of significant goals, that helped Ajax to retain the 2011/2012 Eredivisie title.
Having won four Eredivisie titles with Ajax, de Jong moved to Newcastle United in the summer 2014.
Siem de Jong made three caps for Netherlands U-19 team, in which he scored 2 goals, and 13 caps for Netherlands U-21 team. On 11 August 2010 De Jong made his debut for the national team of Netherlands in the match against Ukraine.
