Sigamary Diarra is a football player of Ajaccio. He is capable of operating both as a halfback and as a forward. He was born on 10 January 1984 in Villepinte, France.
In 2002, Diarra graduated from the academy of Caen and officially became a senior player of the club after penning a contract. Before it happened, the footballer used to be a trainee of Caen’s youth system.
After signing a contract, he immediately got under the wave of luck, because the head coach asked him to join the starting XI for the first fixtures of his first season as a professional player. Over the course of the season, Sigamary made 22 appearances and amassed 2 goals.
His promising start attracted attention of various top-flight clubs of France. Sochaux wished to secure his services and offered him a tempting contract, which suited Diarra perfectly. He managed to make only occasional appearances, spending the bulk of his time on the bench as an unused substitute.
In 2005, Sigamary preferred to return to Ligue 2. He moved to Laval, where he got a chance to play in the main line-up. He strived to become one of the team’s pivots after featuring in 57 games and scoring one goal.
In 2007, he changed for Tours from Ligue 2, where he was groomed during the following 2 years. In total, he netted 6 goals in 71 matches for the club.
In 2009, he came out on top as the French club Lorient from Ligue 1 offered him a deal. The squad’s head coach gave him a chance to take more active part in fixtures of the club and revealed his potential. Since 2009, the footballer made more than 80 appearances and contributed 10 goals.
In the summer 2012, Sigamary changed his temporary club to Ajaccio.
From 2004 to 2006, he was capped 4 times for the Mali national team.
