Simon Kjær

Simon Kjaer is a Danish footballer born on 26 March 1989, in a city of Horsens.

Simon’s professional career started in 2007 when he signed his first contract with FC Midtjylland, where he was brought up for a short time. In the season 2007/08 he played 19 matches.

In 2008 Italian Palermo showed interest in signing Kjaer and in the summer 2008 Simon penned a contract with the Italian club, joining it for the next two years till 2010. Throughout that time he became a key defender, having played 62 games and scored 5 goals for Palermo.

In 2010 Simon moved from Italy to Germany and signed a contract with FC Wolfsburg establishing himself as a key back in central defense. During the season 2010/11 Kjaer made 35 appearances and scored 1 goal for the German club.

In 2011 Italian Roma made a very interesting offer to loan out Simon and the German club couldn’t turn it down. Kjaer played 22 games for the Roman club.

In 2013 Simon moved to the French club Lille on a four-year deal.

From 2006 to 2011 Simon Kjaer was called up for the Denmark national U-18, U-19, U-20 and U-21 football teams, making 14 appearances and scoring 1 goal. Since 2009 Kjaer has been called up to the Danish national team and has already played 35 games.
