Simon Vukčević is a midfielder, born on 29 January 1986 in Podgorica, Montenegro.
At the age of ten, Simon joined the academy of Budućnost Podgorica and spent six years of his youth career there. The footballer managed to reach a decent level of skill and drew the attention of Serbian side Partizan in 2002. Club’s scouts invited Vukčević to come on a trial and saw him pass all necessary tests. It took the midfielder one year to get ready for a professional start.
In 2003, Simon penned a three-year contract with Partizan and began to make occasional appearances. Year by year, the footballer gained necessary experience and became self-confident and workmanlike, which influenced greatly on the head coach’s decision to give Vukčević more playing time in the following season. The midfielder came on the pitch in the starting line-up almost in every match and netted 13 goals in 52 fixtures for the team till the summer 2006.
In 2006, Simon completed a one-year move to Russian side Saturn and fired one goal in 28 games for the club till the summer 2007, when his services were secured by Portuguese side Sporting. The footballer spent four years with ‘Sportinguistas’, but neither clinched a regular place in the first squad nor became the pivot. Vukčević featured in 77 matches and found the net 13 times for the team during his spell.
In the summer 2011, the midfielder sealed a deal with English side Blackburn Rovers and scored one goal in 21 fixtures for the new club. After a short spell with Ukrainian Karpaty Lviv Simon completed a move to Vojvodina Novi Sad in August 2013.
Half a year later Vukčević moved to a Greek club Levadiakos.
From 2003 till 2006, Simon made eight appearances and contributed one goal for the Serbia and Montenegro U-21 squad. In 2004, the footballer chipped in one goal in three games for the U-23 team and was called up to the Serbia and Montenegro national squad, where he took part in five matches.
From 2007, Vukčević has been capped 43 times and went on to net twice for the Montenegro national squad.
