Sjoerd Ars is a Dutch forward, born on 15 April 1984 in Terborg, Netherlands.
In 2002 the youngster finished the youth football academy of the Dutch giants FC Feyenoord, but after failing to break through to the first-team, Sjoerd signed his first professional deal with another club FC De Graafschap. There he spent a 3-year period, which was far from a success, as the club’s head coach preferred to use more experienced players at his position.
In 2005 the forward decided not to prolong his contract with the Graafschap and joined FC Omniworld. There he was finally able to show his talent, scoring 17 goals in 36 appearances.
Later he nailed his success playing for FC Go Ahead Eagles(2006-2008), netting an impressive 33 goals in 74 matches. Later he doubled the achievement representing FC Roosendaal (2008-2010), before signing a contract with FC Zwolle in 2010. The deal gave a start to the most successful season of his entire career. First he scored 11 times during his first 10 games in a Bluefingers shirt and then finished the season as the club’s topscorer, hitting the net on 28 occasions throughout just 33 games.
In 2011 Ars accepted an offer from the Bulgarian heavyweights FC Levski Sofia and signed a 3-year deal with the club. First he reaffirmed his status of a lethal finisher, scoring a winning goal on his debut, when the club secured a 2-1 win over FC Spartak Trnava. However, he soon experienced a decline in his form and was loaned to FC Tianjin Teda in February 2012, the deal contains a buyout option at the end of the 2012 season. There he got back on track, scoring 13 goals in 28 appearances.
