Sotiris Balafas. Biography

Sotiris Balafas is a central defender of Greek origin who plays for Hoverla Uzhhorod. He was born on 19 August 1986 in Arta, Greece. Sotirios can play both as a centre back and defensive midfielder.

Balafas started his professional career at Anagennisi Artas in 2003. During his 2003-2005 stay at the club Sotirios made 21 outings and netted 2 goals.

In 2005 the defender signed for PAOK. From 2005 to 2012 he registered 108 appearances and scored 7 goals for the Greek side. Balafas also enjoyed short loan spells at PAS Giannina in 2009 and Ergotelis in 2010.

In the summer of 2012 Sotirios Balafas completed a move to Hoverla Uzhhorod. From 2006 to 2009 the footballer won 13 international caps and scored a goal for the Greece U21 squad.
