Stefano Sorrentino is a goalkeeper for Palermo. He was born on 28 March, 1979 in Cava de’ Tirreni, Italy.
Stefano’s youth career started at Lazio football academy and then continued at the youth system of Juventus. In 1998 Sorrentino finished his preparations for the start of a pro footballer career.
Stefano failed to become Juventus regular and in 1998 signed for Torino, where he player for the next 7 years. In 1999 the goalkeeper was sent on loan to Juve Stabia, where he spent an idle season. In 2000 he was loaned again to Varese, where he played 30 matches during the 2000/01 season. After returning from loan, Stefano got more playing time at Torino, where he performed until 2005. The Italian goalkeeper made 89 appearances for the club.
In 2005 Stefano signed a contract with AEK Athens and moved to Greece, where he was first-choice goalkeeper during two seasons with a total of 50 matches. In the summer of 2007 Stefano was loaned to Spanish Recreativo for a season, during which he featured in 38 matches. In 2007 Stefano continued his career as a loaned player at Chievo, where he made 32 appearances. After a successful season at Chievo, the club management decided to sign a permanent contract with the goalkeeper and purchased him from the Greek club. Since 2009 Stefano Sorrentino was the first-choice goalkeeper of A.C. ChievoVerona with 163 total appearances.
At the beginning of 2013 Palermo signed Stefano for 4 million Euros.
