Stephen Carr is a former right back. He was born on 29 August 1976 in Dublin, Ireland.
Stephen’s youth career took off in Stella Maris, from where the footballer moved to the academy of Tottenham Hotspur in 1991. It took him two years to give the final touch to the preparations for a professional start.
In 1993, Carr penned his first senior contract with Spurs and soon became the pivot of the team, who managed to gain the confidence of the head coach and win the fans’ hearts by showing stellar performance. The back made 226 appearances and netted seven goals for the club during 11 years.
In 2004, Stephen transferred to Newcastle United, but failed to become an anchor player and fired only one goal in 78 fixtures for ‘The Magpies’ during four years. In 2009, the footballer sealed a deal with Birmingham City and featured in 106 matches for the team.
In 2013 Carr retired from football at the age of 36.
From 1999 till 2007, Carr was capped 44 times for the Republic of Ireland national squad.
