Stephen Robert Ward is a back of Wolverhampton Wanderers. He was born on 20 August 1985 in Dublin, Ireland.
Stephen’s professional career took off in League of Ireland side Bohemians. The footballer penned his first senior contract with the club and joined the main squad, where he made six appearances during his début season. Without any doubts, that was not enough for Ward, but he was given more playing time the following year. The back took part in 16 fixtures and netted two goals for the team during the 2004/2005 season and took his tally to 93 matches and 26 goals by 2006.
In August 2006, Stephen finalized a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers and was given a chance to feature in 20 games during his first year with the new club. The footballer fired three goals and gained the confidence of the head coach, who decided to let him on the pitch more often. Ward made 222 appearances and found the net nine times for ‘The Wolves’ before being loaned to Brighton and Hove Albion in August 2013.
From 2003 till 2007, the back performed for the Republic of Ireland national U-20 and U-21 squads. From 2011, he has been capped 18 times and contributed two goals for the senior national team.
