Steven Fletcher is a striker of Sunderland. He was born on 26 March 1987 in Shrewsbury, England.
In 2004 the English-born Scottish footballer graduated from the academy of Hibernian after four years of preparations for the professional start. Fletcher received a tempting offer, which perfectly met his expectations. After penning a contract, Steven moved to the main team of the club and spent first five years of his senior career there. The Scottish Premier League is a rather prestigious championship and the striker’s level of performance almost totally coincided with the level, required by the Barclays Premier League. That was where offers came from and the Scottish footballer began to receive various invitations from different clubs. Fletcher ended his Hibernian career in 2009 after amassing 43 goals in 156 fixtures during five years.
In the summer 2009, English side Burnley sealed a professional deal with the striker. Steven spent the 2009/2010 season with the new club and fired eight goals in 35 matches. The footballer played for Burnley only during one year before completing a move to Wolverhampton. Fletcher was given an opportunity to come on the field 61 times, and he repaid by netting 22 goals during two years. In 2012, the footballer transferred to Sunderland.
From 2007 till 2008, Steven was capped 13 times and contributed six goals for the Scotland national U-20 and U-21 teams. From 2007, the striker featured in eight games and found the net one time for the full national squad.
