Sven Neuhaus is a German goalkeeper who currently plays for Hamburger SV. He was born on April 4, 1978 in Essen, Germany.
Neuhaus launched his youth career with German side Borussia Byfang who are based in his hometown of Essen. After seven years with the club he joined Schwarz-Weiss Essen. The next step on his career ladder was a move to Fortuna Düsseldorf where he made 13 appearances.
Neuhaus`s senior career began in 2001 when he signed a professional contract with SpVgg Greuther Fürth. During his five-year spell at Fürth the shot stopper made over 50 league starts. In 2006 FC Augsburg secured the services of the footballer. Neuhaus quickly became a first-choice keeper and he clocked up nearly 100 matches for the club. In 2009 he was transferred to FC Augsburg.
When Neuhaus`s contract expired on June 30, 2011, he became an unattached player. On August 25, 2011 Hamburger SV snapped up the keeper on a free transfer. Sven signed a season-long contract with the club. But he suffered an early-season injury and debuted for HSV only in the 32nd round against FC Nuremberg. He came as a substitute for the injured Jaroslav Drobný. On May 22, 2012 Neuhaus signed a contract extension for another season.
The HSV shot stopper has never been capped by his national team due to his fitness and form issues.
