Sylvain Marchal is a defender at Metz. He was born on February 10, 1980 in a town of Langres, France.
Sylvain’s professional career started in 1996, when he signed a contract with Metz FC. He played for the club for 8 years (till 2004), and although he was not a regular player, the coach often used him to refresh the team. Over the 8 seasons he played for the club, Sylvain appeared in 90 matches and scored twice.
In 2004 Sylvain was loaned by Châteauroux FC and took part in 27 matches for the team. He was a regular player due to his playing experience in a stronger club.
In 2005 Sylvain was invited to Lorient FC, which played in Ligue 2 of France. The defender became one of the key players of the first team and defending line. Sylvain Marchal played for the club in 146 matches for 5 years and scored 6 goals. The time in Lorient FC became one of the most successful stages in his life.
In 2010 the footballer was signed by Saint-Etienne, which played in Ligue 1. Since there were a lot of young and talented players in the team, Marchal was not a key defender, but when it was necessary, the coach listed him in the starting lineup.
In 2012 Sylvain Marchal signed a contract with Bastia FC and after one season with the club moved to Ligue 2 outfit Metz.
