Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is a Jamaican-English striker. He was born on 29 March 1986 in Cambridge, England.
Sylvan’s first clubs were Cherry Hinton Lions and Fulbourn Falcons, but his first more or less serious challenge was the academy of Cambridge United, from where the footballer moved to the youth system of Manchester United. He made his first appearance for ‘The Red Devils’ on 26 October 2004 in the Football League Cup match against Crewe Alexandra and netted his first goal in the game versus Barnet in 2005.
Before the end of the 2004/2005 season, Ebanks-Blake broke his leg and was ruled out till the beginning of the following year. The injury did not influence the striker’s qualities, but he failed to take part in any matches for Manchester United since then.
In January 2006, Sylvan was sent on loan to Belgian side Royal Antwerp, where he featured in nine games and fired four goals. In the summer 2006, the footballer returned to England and sealed a deal with Plymouth Argyle worth £300,000. He kicked ten goals for the new club during his first year and added another 11 goals in the second year, which drew the attention of Wolverhampton Wanderers. At the beginning of 2008, ‘The Wolves’ lodged a bid for Ebanks-Blake and secured his services on a four-year deal worth £1.5 million. The striker amassed seven goals in his first eight games for the team and was named Football League Championship Top Scorer at the end of the season. The following year, Sylvan went on to net 25 times in 41 matches and propelled his club to the Premier League promotion.
In 2013 he was released from the club. In December that year he was offered a short-term contract with Ipswich Town.
In 2008, the footballer was called up to the England national U-21 squad.
