Tanju Kayhan was born in Vienna, Austria. He has two brothers, who are also keen on football. So, there is no surprise that he became interested in football as a child. His first youth club was Rapid, which he joined in 1997.
Ten years later, in 2007, he started his professional career and earned promotion to the Rapid’s first team. There he spent 3 years, appearing on the pitch 54 times and scoring 1 goal. He debuted on November 15, 2008 during the fixture against LASK replacing Markus Katzer on 77th minute. In spring 2009 he had been injured and spent some time off the pitch.
At the beginning of 2011 he was sent on loan to FC Magna. Later this year the player was sold to Beşiktaş for 1.050.000 Euro and was given number 66 jersey.
Kayhan made his International debut on 11 February 2009 in the clash between Austria and Italy U21 teams.
