Theo Janssen is a midfielder of Vitesse. He was born on 27 July 1981 in Arnhem, Netherlands.
Theo’s career took off in the reserve team of Vitesse in the 1995/1996 season. The footballer’s main team début came on 9 December 1998, when he came on as a substitute for Marian Zeman in the match against NAC Breda. From 1998 till 2003, Janssen made 62 appearances and found the net two times for the club.
In 2003 the player was sent on a season-long loan to Belgian side Genk, but he was recalled to his parent club after featuring in 15 matches and netting two goals during six months.
After returning to Vitesse, Theo took part in 74 games and amassed 16 goals during two years and a half. His amazing performance could not be left unnoticed, and the footballer was invited to the Netherlands national squad to take part in the friendly against Ecuador on 1 March 2006. However, Janssen failed to make the international appearance due to tonsils surgery and continued to perform for Vitesse. The player repeated his achievements and was called up to the national team one more time. This time Theo managed to take part in the hammering 4-0 victory over Ireland on 16 August 2006.
During the 2006/2007 season, the footballer made only 22 appearances due to traumas and disqualifications. The head coach of the club let Janssen search for the new club despite the player’s contract expired only in 2009. In the middle of April 2008, Theo sealed a deal with Twente till 2012. He featured in 56 matches and went on to net 14 times for the new team during three seasons.
On 23 May 2011, the footballer completed a move to Ajax and fired nine goals in 31 fixtures for the club during one season.
In the summer 2012, Janssen finalized a move to Arnhem side Vitesse.
