A Portuguese footballer Tiago João Targino da Silva was born on 6 June 1986 in Beja. His father is a Brazilian footballer, who played for the best Portuguese clubs. So there’s no wonder that Tiago made his mind to follow into his father’s footsteps.
Targino started his junior career at the academy of Desportivo Beja in 1999. In 2001 he continued his studies at the youth department of Vitória Guimarães, where he spent the last three years of his junior career.
In 2004, a pro contract was penned with Vitória. His division debut happened in December 2004. His first season was lined with 2 goals scored for the first team. In 2008, Tiago was loaned out by Turkish Manisaspor, where he made only 10 appearances.
In 2008, Tiago served loan at Randers from Danish top division. He made 17 appearances and scored 1 goal during the 2008/2009 season.
In 2009, Targino was welcomed back to Vitória Guimarães. The season started with getting a serious trauma, which prevented the footballer from playing during a year. In November 2010, Tiago was back to full fitness and continued to perform for the team. In total, he scored 15 goals in 109 matches.
In 2012, a loan to Vitória de Setúbal happened. He didn’t stay for too long with the temporary club, as he was offered a contract with Olhanense. In the summer 2013 Targino was offered a new contract with a Cypriot side AEL Limassol. At the beginning of 2014 Targino moved to a Polish club Jagiellonia Bialystok.
In 2004, Targino became a member of the Portugal U-20 team. He made 12 appearances for the national youth team. In 2007, he was twice called for the Portugal U-21 team.
