Timo Gebhart is a German attacking midfielder of FC Nürnberg. He was a part of the Germany national youth football teams of different ages (from U-16 to U-21) and helped the national squad to win 2008 UEFA Under-19 Championship title.
He was born in Memmingen, Germany and started his career in the youth setups of FC Memmingen and BSC Memmingen based in his native town. In 2004 Gebhart joined TSV 1860 München youth team. Having passed through the reserve side, where Timo had 5 appearances and made one goal, in 2007 he was finally shortlisted for the first squad. As a first-string player he appeared in 37 matches of the Second Bundesliga and scored 5 goals.
At the beginning of January, 2009 Gebhart was transferred to VfB Stuttgart for €3.2m. The midfielder signed the contract with the Swabians valid till June 30, 2013. He made his debut on February 26, 2009 in the UEFA Cup match against Zenit St. Petersburg substituting on the 60th minute and in 20 minutes kicked his first goal for the new outfit. That game was lost 2-1. Gebhart’s Bundesliga debut occurred on March 1, 2009 in the game with Karlsruher SC. Timo featured in the starting line-up, came off on the 60th minute and the match ended in 2:0 for his team.
Altogether in Stuttgart he was capped 46 times and netted 8 goals and on May 3, 2012 he signed an agreement with FC Nürnberg that came into operation on July 1, 2012. The deal was worth €1 million.
