Tobias Levels was born in the city of Tönisvorst, Germany. There Tobias started his football career. Levels played for SV 1911 St. Tönis and KFC Uerdingen 05 until 1999. Then he played for the youth team of Borussia Mönchengladbach. In 2005 young footballer moved to the second team squad, where appeared in 46 matches and netted 2 goals in two seasons. In 2006 he attracted attention of Borussia coaches. Tobias made his professional debut on 30 September 2006 against Werder. During the first season Levels featured in 12 matches and in the second season he appeared in 27 matches. Due to that his team managed to get to Bundesliga. In 2007/2008 season the team took the second place. In 2009/2010 Tobias appeared in 32 matches and became the team’s leader.
In 2011 Levels moved to Fortuna Düsseldorf on loan.
