Toifilou Maoulida was born on June 8, 1979 on a little island in the Indian Ocean, called Mayotte, close to the Comoros, and grew up in Marseille.
Toifilou Maoulida’s career of a professional footballer started at Montpellier SC in 1997 and 4 years later he was transferred to Rennais. After a couple of seasons the head coach László Bölöni claimed that the striker did not fit in with his tactical scheme; so, he was loaned to Metz. Toifilou showed brilliant performance for his new club, having scored 12 goals in 33 games. However, when he returned to Rennais he netted only 7 goals in 31 matches, which was rather disappointing.
In the summer of 2005 Toifilou Maoulida was transferred to Monaco AS as a free agent, but this stage of his career wasn’t very successful either. He couldn’t make it to the first team and moved to Olympique de Marseille. The football player and his team went as far as the French Cup final in 2006 and 2007 seasons and got the second place in the French Ligue 1 in the season of 2006/2007.
In 2007 Toifilou Maoulida joined Auxerre AJ, and a year later started playing for Lens RC. He stayed there for 3 seasons and kicked 30 goals in 106 matches. In August 2011 he signed a new contract, this time with Bastia SC.
