Tom Cairney is a midfielder, born on 20 January 1991 in Nottingham, England.
In 1998, Tom joined the academy of Leeds United after passing all necessary tests and making encouraging display in a demonstration game. The footballer was asked to perform for a junior squad, where he spent several years before starting to climb the youth system ladder. In 2007, Cairney drew the attention of Hull City scouts and moved to the new club in the same year. It took him another two years to get fully ready for a professional start.
In 2009, the midfielder penned his first senior contract and joined the main squad of ‘The Tigers’. He showed impressing performance during trainings and was given a lot of playing practice by the head coach, who tried to put him in the starting line-up as often as he could. Tom made 70 appearances and found the net two times for the team before being loaned to Blackburn Rovers in the summer 2013. Half a year later Tom signed a permanent deal with the club.
From 2009 till 2010, the footballer was capped eight times and contributed one goal for the Scotland national U-19 and U-21 squads.
