Tomáš Hübschman is a defensive midfielder for Shakhtar Donetsk. He was born on 4 September 1981 in Prague, Czech Republic.
Tomáš began his career at Sparta Prague. Already at the age of five he joined the club’s junior team. When Hübschman was 18, he penned his first professional deal with the club in 1999, after having a short spell at Fastav Zlín. Tomáš couldn’t establish himself as a regular in the starting lineup, and thus was sent out on loan to Jablonec in 2000. There Tomáš brought out his full potential and returned to Sparta as an experienced player. Hübschman quickly became a pillar of Sparta defense. Largely due to his terrific performances the Reds made it to the quarterfinals of the Champions League. After spending a few more bright seasons in the Czech Gambrinus liga, Hübschman moved to Shakhtar Donetsk for 3 million Euros.
Tomáš quickly adapted to the new environment and almost immediately got a position in the starting lineup. Mircea Lucescu unearthed Tomáš’ talent for midfield and made him defensive halfback. Since 2004 the Czech footballer is one of the key players for Shakhtar.
In 2001 Tomáš Hübschman was appointed the captain of the Czech Republic U-21 team where he featured till 2003. Now Hübschman is a player of the senior side.
