Tomáš Kalas is a defender of London side Chelsea. He was born on 15 May 1993 in Olomouc, Czech Republic.
Tomáš’s career took off in the youth team of Sigma Olomouc, to where he came at early age. The management soon decided to pen a professional contract with the footballer, who made his début for the club on 5 May 2010 in the 2-0 victory over Slovan Liberec.
In July 2010, Kalas managed to draw the attention of one of the best clubs in the world. English side Chelsea sealed a deal with the talented defender and paid more than £5 million for his transfer.
In the summer 2011, Tomáš completed a move on a season-long loan to Dutch side Vitesse and made his first appearance for the temporary team on 17 September 2011 in the hammering 5-0 victory over Roda JC Kerkrade. The footballer featured in 58 matches for the temporary team during his spell and extended his loan contract for the following season in July 2012.
In 2014 Kalas was loaned to a German side Koln.
Kalas’s international début came on 5 September 2009 in the European U-17 Championship qualifier against Belarus, which ended in a 1-0 win for the Czech Republic. The player also was given an opportunity to come on the pitch during the group stage of the tournament. Tomáš was capped 19 times and contributed one goal for the U-18, U-19 and U-21 squads.
