Tomasz Kuszczak is a goalkeeper, born on 20 March 1982 in Krosno Odrzańskie, Poland.
In 1998, Tomasz joined the academy of Śląsk Wrocław, where he spent one year. In 1999, the footballer moved to the youth system of German side Uerdingen and got ready for a professional start.
In 2000, Kuszczak’s capture became a priority of Hertha BSC, which offered the keeper a four-year contract. At first, Tomasz performed for the reserve squad of the club, because he needed to adapt and gain experience. In 2001, the player was included into the roster for a match of the main team, but failed to come on the pitch. From 2000 till 2004, Kuszczak took part in 87 fixtures for Hertha BSC II.
In 2004, the keeper penned a contract with English side West Bromwich Albion and performed for the new club during two years. Tomasz featured in 31 games for ‘The Baggies’ and went on a season-long loan to Manchester United in 2006.
After the end of his temporary spell, the management of ‘The Red Devils’ decided to secure the footballer’s services on a five-year contract. Without any doubts, Kuszczak’s level could not be compared to the level of Edwin van der Sar, but the Polish keeper was regarded as one of Dutchman’s successors. Tomasz made 26 appearances for the club during four years and a half.
In the summer 2012, the footballer returned from a six-month loan at Watford and transferred to Brighton & Hove Albion.
