Tomer Hemed is a footballer from Israel who plays for RCD Mallorca and the national team of Israel on a position of a forward.
His career began at Maccabi Haifa in 2006. He was called up from the youth ranks in March of 2006 for an Israeli Premier League game against Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv where he was used as a substitute. Though being officially recruited by the main squad he continued performing for the U-19 team having played 21 games and scored 10 goals. In 2007 he took part in a trip to the tournament of ‘Torneo de Viareggio’ in Italy as a part of the U-21 squad. Hemed scored one goal but Maccabi Haifa failed to pass through the group stage.
From 2007 to 2010 Hemed was frequently shifting the clubs, such as Maccabi Herzliya (2008), Bnei Yehuda (2008/09), Maccabi Ahi Nazareth (2009/10) where he was playing under the management of an Englishman John Gregory. Under Gregory’s guidance Hemed grew into a mature footballer and so even a feature article in a famous British newspaper Daily Mail called him a ‘star striker’. Indeed that season was really successful for the forward as he scored 9 times though not being able to drag Nazareth out of the bottom.
During the season 2010/11 Hemed was an irreplaceable unit of Maccabi’s mechanism as he scored 15 goals in 22 games leading his side to the championship title and earning a reward for being league’s best goal scorer. The coach of the Israeli national team was so deeply impressed by Tomer’s performance that decided to include him into the entry for a friendly match against Dynamo Kyiv though the list of players was already formed.
On June 18, 2011 he signed for Mallorca. For the season 2011/12 he made 30 appearances scoring in every third match for the team.
In May 2011 Hemed was called up to the national team to prepare for his debut match against Latvia. Finally he made his first appearance for the national team on June 4 against the Baltic side. The Israeli team gained a 2-1 victory while Hemed produced one goal creating an assist for Yossi Benayoun.
