Anthony James ‘Tony’ Hibbert is an English right back of Everton. He has a ‘Hibbo’ nickname. Tony was born and grew up in Liverpool and he is one of the most experienced and loyal players of his club (joined Everton at the age of 10).
Hibbert is a product of the Everton academy, where he came in 1991 at the age of ten. The future footballer was a fan of ‘The Toffees’ since his early childhood and that is why he did not choose Liverpool.
In 1998 Tony and his Everton peers won the FA Youth Cup. Three years later, he made his first team début in the match against West Ham. In 2002/2003 Hibbert began to stably perform for his club in the English Premier League. In 2004/2005 the footballer unveiled his talent and became one of the best Everton players of the year. The end of 2005/2006 was a bit unsuccessful for Tony, because he got a hernia. The beginning of the following season was as unfortunate as the end of the previous one as the back caught cryptosporidiosis. That way Hibbert managed to return on the pitch only in 2007/2008.
On 23 October 2010, the footballer signed a new contract with Everton till the summer 2014. After extending his contract spell, Tony noted that he wanted to play for ‘The Toffees’ during his entire career.
Hibbert is widely known for not managing to get on the scoresheet despite 250 appearances for Everton (correct as of August 2012). However, that did not prevent the footballer from becoming one of ‘The Toffees’ symbols and the Goodison Park fan’s favourite.
