Torsten Oehrl was born on 7 January 1986 in Itzgrund, West Germany.
Torsten started playing football in SV Memmelsdorf, where he stayed for three years. In 1996, he moved to SV Hallstadt, and in 2001 became a player of Eintracht Bamberg. At the age of 17, Oehrl joined SpVgg Greuther Fürth.
During the 2005/2006 season, the player performed for the Fürth reserve team as a central striker, where he managed to score 10 goals in 22 games. The following season, Oehrl was invited to the professional team, where he appeared only in nine matches.
In 2007, a young footballer was loaned to Kickers Offenbach, where he also failed to show inspiring results. Therefore, Thorsten was sent on loan to Eintracht Braunschweig, where he netted goals in every four matches.
Soon Werder Bremen became interested in the player who eventually joined the club in 2008, initially playing for reserves. On 10 May 2009, Oehrl made his first team debut in a match against Hamburg. In July 2009, he signed a professional contract for two years, and soon the player appeared in his first official game in the German Cup. In that match Torsten put it in the back of the net, securing a 3-0 win over FC Kaiserslautern.
In 2010, the player was loaned to Fortuna Düsseldorf where he played fifteen matches. The same year, he moved to Augsburg, signing a two-year contract with the Bundesliga club. He made his first appearance for the club against FC Ingolstadt 04, which at that moment was playing in the Second Bundesliga. On 11 December 2010, Torsten Oehrl scored the best goal of the month against Frankfurt, making a spectacular scissors kick. It was his first goal for the new club.
In June 2013 Thorsten signed a contract with Eintracht Braunschweig, recently promoted to the Bundesliga.
