Umut Kaya was born in Istanbul. He was keen on football even in his childhood and took part in numerous competitions.
From 2000 to 2005 the player trained with youth team of Alibeyköyspor. In 2005 Umut moved to Beşiktaş, where he was also the part of the youth team till 2010.
The footballer started his professional career in June 2010 and was promoted to the first team of the club, where he asked for a number 90 shirt. On 17 August 2010 he came off the bench as a substitute in the UEFA Champions League fixture, as the first-choice goalie was unable to play due to injury.
Later Kaya was sent on loan to Denizlispor.
