Valentin Sébastien Roger Roberge was born on 9 June 1987 in Montreuil, France.
Roberge started his sporting career at the academy of the French side Guingamp. He signed his first professional contract with this club in 2006. In the 2006/2007 season the footballer played in its youth team. During this time Roberge netted once in 28 matches. In 2007 Valentin Roberge moved to Paris Saint-Germain. During the 2007/2008 season he appeared on a football field 31 times. In 2008 Valentin Roberge sealed a deal with Aris, which is one of the leading and most popular Greek clubs. High level of competition didn’t allow the young player to become a regular first team player, that’s why he rarely came on the pitch. During two years he featured only in 25 matches for this club.
In 2010 Valentin Roberge moved to the Portuguese club Marítimo where he took part in 76 games before completing a switch to Sunderland in the summer 2013.
