Vasco Fernandes is a defender of Platanias. He was born on 12 November 1986 in Olhão, Portugal.
In 2004 Fernandes penned a professional contract with Olhanense, at the academy of which he finished his youth career. During the 2004/2005 season the football player made several appearances for his new club and when the season was over, he was sent on loan to the French side Bordeaux. During his one-year spell with the temporary team Fernandes didn’t manage to come on the pitch.
In the summer 2007, after a year with Olhanense, Vasco was loaned to Salamanca where he played during the 2007/2008 season. During that period Fernandes took part in 18 matches for his temporary team.
In the summer 2008 Leixões acquired the footballer’s rights sealing a deal with him. Fernandes finished the 2008/2009 season with 16 appearances for his new team. For the next season he was sent on loan to the Spanish club Celta where he spent a full season playing 28 games as a first team player. In the summer 2010 Fernandes penned an agreement with Elche where he spent one season getting into the starting eleven 17 times. In the summer 2011 the player joined Beira-Mar, however he failed to play a single game for his new club. In January 2012 the defender returned to Olhanense.
Since 2013 Fernandes has featured for a Greek side Platanias.
From 2007 to 2008 Vasco Fernandes gained 16 caps for the Portugal U-21 football team.
