Vasili Berezutski is a defender who currently represents CSKA Moscow. He was born on 20 June 1982 in Moscow, Soviet Union. His twin brother Aleksei plays for CSKA at the left-back position.
When he was 17 years old, Vasili celebrated his senior debut for Torpedo-ZIL. During his 1999–2001 stay at the club he made 29 appearances.
In 2002 Vasili joined his brother Aleksei at CSKA Moscow. During his first season at the club Berezutski was used as a back-up. Next season he became a regular and an important player of the defense. Together with Sergei Ignashevich, the Berezutski twins formed the strongest defensive unit in the Russian Premier League, as well as in the Russia national football team. Playing for CSKA Moscow, Berezutski assisted to winning the Russian Premier League title three times. He was repeatedly crowned the Russian Cup and the Russian Super Cup. He picked up UEFA Cup winners’ medal in 2005. From 2002 to 2012 Vasili Berezutski made over 230 performances for CSKA Moscow.
Vasili was selected for the Russian Euro 2008 squad. Since 2003 Berezutski has played over 60 international matches for Russia
