Vasyl Kobin is a midfielder for Shakhtar Donetsk, who was born on 24 May 1985 in Strabychovo, Ukraine.
Vasyl is a product of the Carpathian football schools. From 1998 to 2003 he trained at Zakarpattia Uzhhorod youth system. In 2004 a young promising midfielder was promoted to the first squad of the club.
In the 2003/04 season Vasyl helped his club win the Ukrainian First League and advance to the Premier League. Kobin made his league debut on 20 June 2004 against Dynamo Kyiv. All in all, Vasyl made 70 appearances for Zakarpattia.
In the summer of 2006 Kobin moved to Karpaty Lviv, and debuted for it on 23 July 2006 in a match against Metalurh Zaporizhya. Vasyl scored his first goal for the new club on 6 August 2006 against Zorya Luhansk. In two years Vasyl has become one of the leaders of the first team. In the 2008/09 season he was even made captain of the Green Lions.
In June 2009 Vasyl moved to Shakhtar Donetsk and debuted for the Miners in a 2-0 win against Illichivets Mariupol in July. He won the UEFA Cup in his debut season with the club.
In the 2009/10 season the player featured in 24 matches of the Ukrainian Premier League and became the champion of the country. In the following two seasons Vasyl rarely appeared on the field (9 and 7 appearances respectively), but this did not prevent him from becoming three-time champion of Ukraine.
In September 2006 Kobin made his debut for Ukraine U-21 in a match against their peers from Croatia. Three years later, on 5 September 2009, Vasyl Kobin won his first cap for Ukraine national team against Andorra. Since then, he made 11 appearances for the Yellow-Blues (as of May 2012).
