Viktor Claesson is a midfielder who currently plays for Elfsborg. He was born on 2 January 1992 in Värnamo, Sweden. Nominally a midfielder, Claesson can also play as a striker.
In his teenage years Viktor trained at his hometown club Värnamo. In 2008 he put his pen-to-paper on a senior contract with the side. During his 2008-2011 stay at IFK Värnamo Claesson registered 71 appearances and netted 29 goals. Viktor often played the role of a playmaker, helping his team in the attack.
In January 2012 Viktor Claesson switched to Elfsborg. The footballer featured in 27 games and netted 5 goals for the club in 2012. Claesson is recognized for his accurate passing and set-piece abilities.
In 2009 Viktor debuted for the Sweden U17 squad. He was later called up to the Sweden U19 team, where he netted 3 goals in 9 matches. In 2011 the midfielder made 10 appearances for the U21 team, before being called up to the senior national squad for 2 matches.
