Vladimir Bystrov is a midfielder of Zenit. He was born on 31 January 1984 in Luga, Leningrad Oblast, Russia.
Vladimir is a product of Smena football school. He made his début for Zenit in August 2002 and fired six goals in 61 fixtures for the club during his first spell till 2005.
In February 2004, the footballer received his first call-up to the Russia national team and was included into the roster for unofficial friendlies in Japan. His début for Russia came in the match against Bulgaria.
In the summer the same year, the midfielder transferred to Spartak Moscow and became one of the pivots of the club soon after. However, the 2008 season was not very brilliant both for his team and for himself, because Bystrov developed a weird action sequence – to come on the pitch, to net a goal and to get sent off. At the end of the season, the footballer got a serious injury and was unable to help his club in the last league matches. Vladimir was lucky to manage without a surgery and returned to the training ground by February 2009.
20-year-old Bystrov was the youngest player of the Russia national team in Euro 2004. The footballer came on the field in one match as a sub 20 minutes before the full-time.
The situation with Euro 2008 was not very pleasant, as Guus Hiddink let the footballer on the pitch as a sub and made inverse substitution 25 minutes later, sending Roman Adamov on the field.
In 2014 Bystrov was loaned to Anzhi Makhachkala.
Vladimir is a holder of the bronze medal of the European Championship.
Besides, Bystrov is a holder of the golden, silver and bronze medal of the Russian Premier League and the winner of the Valentine Granatkin Memorial. The footballer got on the list of top 33 players of the Russian Premier League (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007) and was nominated for ‘Hope of the season’, ‘Strelyets’ and ‘First five’ awards in 2003.
