Walter Gargano is a half-back of Napoli. He was born on 23 July 1984 in Paysandú, Uruguay.
Walter began his career at Danubio and played for the club from 2003 to 2007. During this time Garagano won two national championships and wrote his name into the three-fold Uruguayan champion’s history. In 2007 Napoli bought Gargano for £2 million.
During the 2010/11 season Gargano had a serious quarrel with Napoli head coach Walter Mazzarri and was about to be expelled from the squad. However, he was loaned to Internazionale for the season 2012/2013 and later on joined Parma.
Gargano’s international career began in December 2005 when he debuted for Uruguay in a match against Galicia. The official debut though was a 2-1 win against Libya in 2006. Gargano also played for Uruguay at Copa América 2007.
Recently Walter has been a substitute because the head coach preferred to see Diego Pérez and Egidio Arévalo Ríos in Uruguay midfield. Due to that Gargano rarely appeared as a starter.
In May 2011 Walter scored a goal against Germany and was named Best Player of the Match. Gargano is also a winner of Copa América 2011.
