A Chinese footballer Wang Dong was born on 10 September 1981 in Qingdao, Shandong.
When he was 13, Wang Dong joined the local club Quingdao Hainiu, where he played for the youth team during a year. In 1996, the young midfielder was selected for the junior side of Shanghai Pudong. He’d spent four years at the club’s academy, before his formation was finished.
In 2000, Wang Dong earned the promotion to the senior squad of Shanghai Pudong. In total, his debut year was lined with 10 goals scored in 15 matches.
In 2001, the midfielder moved to Changchun Yatai to play in the second division. Wang Dong managed to get the place in the starting eleven very quickly. In 2005, together with the club, he earned the promotion to the Chinese Super League. He made more than 251 appearances for the club and became one of the team’s anchor players.
In 2007, the club won the title in the Chinese Super League. In 2009, Wang Dong started to make more rare appearances due to the received injury. After recovering, he tried himself on trial for the Australian side Newcastle Jets. Nevertheless, nothing came from this try and the footballer returned to China.
In 2014 Wang Dong moved to Chongqing Lifan.
On international level, Wang Dong debuted for the China full side in 2006. In 2010, together with the squad he became the champion of the East Asian Cup.
