Waris Majeed is a Ghanaian footballer under contract with the Russian Premier League side Spartak Moscow. He was born on 19 September 1991 in Tamale, Ghana.
Waris is a product of his homeland Right to Dream Academy. In 2008, he moved to England and joined the football team of Hartpury College in the ECFA Premier League. He was acknowledged to be a promising young hopeful with his 36 goals in 21 games. Majeed sparked furor as he netted five goals for Häcken in a 6-0 victory over IFK Norrköping in May 2012. That record made him the first player in the Swedish top division to score 5 goals in a single match in the 21st century. Moreover, for his string of outstanding performances Waris was named the Allsvenskan Top Scorer and was awarded the Swedish Golden Boot in 2012. In November 2012, the Ghanaian player left Häcken for Russian giant club Spartak Moscow but did not become a regular and was loaned to Valenciennes in 2014.
Waris Majeed is capped to the Ghana national team since 2012. He made his international debut in a match against Chile in February.
