Wei Zhao was born on 29 August 1983 in Tianjin, China. He currently plays as a goalkeeper for Tuen Mun in the Hong Kong First Division League.
Wei Zhao played for numerous Chinese clubs throughout his career. Thus, he featured for Guangzhou Rizhiquan, South China AA, Hong Kong Rangers and others. The most fruitful period of his career was a three-year spell at Sun Hei in between 2007 and 2010 where Wei Zhao made a total of 48 solid appearances. In the 2010/11 season, he played 15 matches for Tuen Mun and in the 2011/12 campaign Wei joined Biu Chun Rangers. However, Wei Zhao returned to Tuen Mun ahead of the 2012/13 season and plays for the club till the date.
Wei Zhao earned his first international cap to the Hong Kong national team in a friendly game against Malaysia in June 2011.
