Welliton Soares de Morais is a striker, was born on 22 October 1986 in Conceição do Araguaia, Brazil.
In 2003, Welliton launched his junior career when he started training at Birigüi football academy. In 2005, the talented youngster was snapped up by Goiás. The club signed the player on a four-year contract. Thanks to his playing abilities, Welliton was a called up to the first team. Unfortunately, the footballer didn’t make a single appearance on the pitch, so he was loaned to Ituano in 2006, where he made 32 appearances and netted 10 goals. After his short loan spell at Ituano, Welliton returned to Goiás and quickly became an ever-present in the starting eleven. During the 2006/07 season he took part in 41 matches and scored 16 goals.
In 2007, FC Spartak Moscow noticed the talented forward. Welliton penned a five-year deal with the club. In 2008, he showed stunning performance by scoring 6 goals in 9 matches. But following a severe injury, he had to stay out for 9 months. On 8 August 2009, Welliton made his first hat-trick in the match against Spartak Nalchik. Thanks to his outstanding display, Welliton became the top scorer of the 2009 Russian Premier League. Next season he secured his title by netting 19 goals. On 21 August 2010, Welliton scored the fastest hat-trick in the history of his club in the match against Tom Tomsk. He netted his third goal in the 6th minute of the game. From 2007 to 2012 Welliton netted 81 goals in 133 matches.
In 2013 he was loaned to a Brazilian club Gremio and later on to Sao Paulo. In 2014 he servd a loan spell with a Spanish club Celta Vigo.
