Willem Janssen is a midfielder of Twente. He was born on 4 July 1986 in Nijmegen, Netherlands.
Willem’s career took off in VVV-Venlo in 2004. At first, the head coach planned to use the young midfielder as a substitute, but Janssen had his own opinion about that. The footballer’s stellar performance, skills and great field vision earned him a place in the main team of the club and a three-year contract. Willem made 93 appearances and amassed 16 goals for VVV-Venlo during his spell.
In 2007 Janssen’s career went forward at a steady gait after he transferred to Roda, which desperately needed a midfielder like him. The role of the anchor player and the head coach’s confidence gave the footballer an opportunity to feature in 129 games and find the net 22 times.
In 2011 Twente reinforced their team after their first Eredivisie title and Willem’s capture was one of club’s priorities. In the summer 2011, ‘The Tukkers’ sealed a deal with the footballer, and he continues to perform for the main team up till now.
