William Kvist is a defensive midfielder for VfB Stuttgart, who is also capable of playing as a right full-back. He was born in Rønde, Denmark. William was repeatedly called up to the national youth teams of all levels. Since 2007 Kvist has been a player of the Denmark senior squad.
The Dane began his career in football at the local club Thorsager Rønde IF. In 1992, at the age of 7, he joined the much famed youth academy of KB. After 12 years of trainings, in the 2004/05 season Kvist progressed to the first team. William’s debut came on 23 April 2005 in the Danish Superliga match versus FC Nordsjælland, when he replaced Ole Tobiasen.
During his first seasons with the Lions, the midfielder spent most of the time as a substitute. However, in 2007 the key right-back Lars Jacobsen left the team and William was nominated to be the new right back of the club.
On 16 June 2011 F.C. Copenhagen announced about Kvist’s transfer to VfB Stuttgart for €3.5 million.
In January 2014 Kvist was loaned to Fulham.
His senior national debut came on 22 August 2007 in a friendly match against Ireland.
