Xabier Prieto. Biography

Xabier ‘Xabi’ Prieto Argarate is a Spanish football player. He was born in San Sebastián, Spain, and started playing at Real Sociedad’s youth team. Then he went on with reserve team and in 2003 he joined the first squad. Currently he wears the captain’s arm bend and plays as a right midfielder.

Xabi made his debut in La Liga in October 2003 and after that he made eight more appearances as a substitute.

In May 2004 Xabi Prieto managed to score twice in a 4-1 win against Real Madrid. The next La Liga campaign he became a regular player and scored 9 goals. In the 2007/08 campaign he reminded a regular, but Real Sociedad relegated to the second division.

The season 2009/10 was successful for the team as they reached the top division, during that season Prieto made 35 appearances and netted seven goals.

In December 2011 his contract with the club was extended till June 2017.
