Yan Song is a Chinese football player who now performs as a midfielder for Shanghai Shenhua. He was born on March 20, 1981 in Dalian, China.
Yan Song started his football journey with Dalian Shide F.C. in 1999. The 18-year-old quickly forced his way into the first-team squad, making 20 starts and hitting 4 goals in his debut season. With the arrival of a new manager the club won the Chinese Super League in the following season.
Soon Yan Song became the valuable member of the starting XI. During his stay at the club the tenacious midfielder secured 4 league and 2 FA Cup titles. The footballer made a total of 185 appearances and netted 27 goals for Dalian Shide F.C. In 2008 he moved to Hangzhou Greentown. In February 2010 Yan Song joined South Korean side Jeju United. However, this move was a real flop as the midfielder was eliminated from the main squad and didn’t play a single minute for the club.
In 2011 he headed back to Dalian Shide F.C. But his return was not a long stay as in 2012 Yan Song penned a contract with Chinese outfit Shanghai Shenhua.
The midfielder’s brilliant performance for Dalian Shide F.C. paved the way for his call-up to the national team. The year of 2004 saw the player take his place in China’s AFC Asian Cup squad.
