Banana Yaya plays as a central defender for FC Sochaux-Montbéliard. He was born on 29 July 1991 in Maroua, Cameroon.
The player started his professional career in 2007 when he agreed to join de Diable Rouge de Maroua aux Lions for one year. The defender periodically appeared in the major team squad. Due to strong competition within the club he had to play both in the starting lineup and as a substitute.
In 2009 Yaya received a call-up from Achilles FC where he stayed only for half a year until the summer of the same year. Unfortunately his performance was not a success and he rarely appeared in the major squad.
In the summer of 2009 the defender accepted the offer from Espérance Tunis with which he signed a lasting contract for three years. He played in the reserve team and seldom showed up in the major squad. Strong competition did not assist him in becoming the team’s key player either. Yaya made only 31 total appearances for the club scoring 3 goals.
In 2012 the situation in his career radically changed when was offered a move to Ligue 1 club Sochaux. He was very glad to the opportunity of playing in Ligue 1 which is one of the strongest leagues in Europe. In January 2012 the player agreed to sign a contract according to which he currently represents the club.
From 2009 till 2011 Banana Yaya participated in 14 matches for the Cameroon U-20 football team netting 1 goal.
