Yohan Cabaye is a French midfielder of Paris Saint-Germain.
Yohan went in for football at the age of five. He trained in the Tourcoing academy during seven years, when French side Lille scouts noticed the young talent and took him to their youth team, where Cabaye played for six years. The 2004/2005 season was the first professional season for Yohan and he propelled his team towards lifting the UEFA Intertoto Cup. In 2005/2006 Cabaye became a regular and made his Champions League debut under the guidance of Claude Puel. Puel’s successor Rudi Garcia put Yohan at the midfielder position, which revealed the footballer’s talent and he scored 15 goals, acting as a midfielder in 2009/2010, which became the most successful season in Cabaye’s career. In 2010/2011 the player helped Lille to win Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France.
In June 2011 Yohan Cabaye signed a five-year contract with English Premier League club Newcastle United. He got on the scoresheet of the new team by scoring the winner in a 1-0 victory over Wigan Athletic during the 9th round of the 2011/2012 Premier League. The following game was the Football League Cup match against Blackburn Rovers, where the midfielder netted an equalizer from a free kick in the 96th minute and two teams proceeded to extra time. On 4 January 2012, he went on to net of ‘The Red Devils’ from a free kick, sending the ball right to the upper corner of the goal and helping his team in a hammering 3-0 victory.
Having played 93 matches and scored 18 goals for the Magpies, Cabaye returned to France and joined Paris Saint-Germain in January 2014.
